Honestly, just making more of a publicized competition around manufacturers building unrestricted time-attack machines would be really cool. Nurburgring, Pikes Peak, etc. No other cars, no rules, all-out speed. Bugatti, Porsche, Koenigsegg, the ID.R program, perhaps the next Tesla Roadster... Racing is nice, but at 500km/h, it is dangerous enough without other cars on the track. I just want to see Porsche gingerly handing the Nurburgring trophy to the Bugatti team and going back to the drawing board. :-D

When he described the “dimples” but really meant “bubbles” did he have the tech backwards? I thought the bubbles would decrease laminar flow and in turn decrease downforce and drag. Deflating the bubbles would allow greater laminar flow. This would keep the airflow tight to the body so it could flow over the rear wing. Doing so would increase drag and also increase downforce. Would someone who truly understands fluid dynamics explain this to me?
